07 Mar 3 FUN ROAD TRIP DESTINATIONS IN VICTORIA
What’s one of the best things about having a car? Road trips!
We all know of the amazing spots to head to like the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island and Wilsons Prom, so we thought we’d highlight some awesome road trip destinations that sometimes get overlooked.
So if your car is running in top condition, get the playlist sorted, fill up the tank, check the pressure in your tyres, grab some snacks and supplies and hit the road to one of these brilliant places. You might even make it a road trip weekend!
Bright & Surrounds
Picturesque Bright sits at the base of the Victorian Alps. It’s peaceful, leafy and perfect for a relaxing road trip. You can take in wineries, local markets, swimming holes, lookouts, Mt Buffalo, the Mosaic Trail in Myrtleford, and the Bright Autumn Festival. Bright also shines with stunning, blazing colours in Autumn, so it’s the perfect time for a visit. You can even include a stop at Beechworth as well.
Known as Victoria’s Wild West in the Wimmera Mallee region you can visit parks, great pubs, quirky shops, Lake Tyrrell, Pink Lake, walk some trails, and see the amazing murals on the Silo Art Trail.
The Silo Art Trail is simply stunning and includes the Patchewollock Silo, Brim Silo and Rupanyup Silo. You won’t regret taking the time to view this amazing display of art.
About 4 and a half hours from Melbourne, the Buchan Caves are spectacular. Victoria’s largest cave system, they’re a honeycomb of limestone formations that were carved by an underground river almost 400 million years ago. And Buchan Caves Reserve has remarkable Aboriginal cultural heritage and is perfect for a picnic before or after your cave tour. Just remember, the tours are guided, and tickets have to be purchased at least 24 hours before your visit.
Don’t forget to run through your own car checks before heading off on a day road trip. And if you’re planning a road trip holiday around Victoria or interstate, have your car serviced before you head off.
